Russia celebrates Maslenitsa holiday ahead of Orthodox Great Lent

This Sunday marks the end of a week-long fest called Maslenitsa in Russia. Historically an ancient Slavic holiday, it now precedes the Orthodox Christian Great Lent, and is also a traditional day for Russians to say goodbye to winter.
